President’s Message – December 2025
What a busy few weeks this has been. The day after Thanksgiving, Nancy Lynberg and I drove to Anaheim to pick up five U.S. greyhounds. Then 14 days later we drove to the LAX area to pick up the Aussie Posse Six, which were originally scheduled for October, but during the government shutdown, no travel permits were issued.
Yes, It’s a lot of driving but to initially meet them after their long journey is an honor and bonds me to their well-being. As they go to their forever homes and see them blossom, I am grateful for the experience.
Reflecting on the past year, we had a lot of opportunities to get together, with and without hounds. We began 2025 with an in-person annual Board meeting in January and the Greyt Winter Festival at the end of February. It was so well-received that it’s happening again in 2026. We had meetups at MotoSonora Brewing Company, Harbottle Brewing Company, Vertigo Wines and BARK ‘N BERRY. In late September, we participated in the Great Global Walk for the first time and in October, everyone’s favorite – to don a costume at the BooRooUnion. Throughout the summer when weather permitted, we informally met at the Tucson Botanical Gardens during Dog Days of Summer. This month we put our best paws forward at the Downtown Tucson Parade of Lights. Whew! Maybe our nickname should be the Greyhound Social Club?
These events are ideal for socializing the hounds and getting to know other adopters, for supporting local businesses and providing outreach to the community. It might also be a chance to see your former foster dog that has transitioned to pet life.
We love getting updates and photos. Please share your enthusiasm and email communications@sagreys.org.
Thank you for a greyt year!
