President’s Message – April 2026

If you attended our last board meeting, you might know that we expanded our board by adding four new Members at Large positions, voted in were Katherine George, Alice Goddard, Nicholas Thorne and Nathan Thorne. Let me say thank you for stepping into these roles and provide insight into the reason for the expansion.

One of the biggest reasons for the increase in size was to always have a quorum during our meetings. Another reason is to get additional oversight and input to keep things transparent. I know you have not only read that from me but possibly also heard me say that word a time or two.

Sometimes, when in our day-to-day operations, we may have a little bias as to what we are doing and how we are going about it. With the addition of new board members, varying and additional perspectives would be provided and discussed that may not have been presented or input with a smaller group. The additional members are all current or previous greyhound owners who have additional insights or experiences to offer when we discuss business, events or actions.

We can’t fulfill our mission without volunteers and I am immensely grateful for the addition of these volunteers. If you ever want to volunteer within SA Greys, please reach out to Alice Goddard, our volunteer coordinator.
