The year 2024 was much like a greyhound, it sure went FAST! First, a thank you to our Board, volunteers, fosters, adopters, veterinarians and donors without whom we could not do what we do.
We did a lot this past year and we have a lot planned for 2025. We started off with our Annual meeting held on Sunday, Jan. 12, and then drove to Los Angeles to transport eight Aussies to Tucson on Saturday, Jan. 18. In February, we are hosting the Greyt Winter Festival at Corbett’s (dogs are welcome) where there will be a silent auction and hound fashion show. March brings four Irish greyhounds and preparations for Arizona Gives Day in April. Depending on the number of applications, we may bring one last spring group during April/May before resuming in the fall when temperatures are cooler.
We had a fun BooRooUnion and have it on the books for October. As well as plentiful sales of Jim Click raffle tickets, which none of our buyers won a prize last year, but the hounds will always be the winners of that event. We partnered with the Beading Divas during the summer and were one of two charities that benefited from their anniversary celebration. Lastly, our group sparkled at the Tucson Parade of Lights, which rounded out the year.
Nancy and our communications team have been busy transitioning to new operating systems and a new website, which will save us countless hours once implemented but takes a lot of hours on the front end.
I am filled with gratitude for all the people who continually volunteer and support SA Greys. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. It certainly takes a community to make all this happen. Thank you.
