President’s Message – September 2026
Can you believe it’s already September? While the temperatures start to lower, the SA Greys events start ramping up and I can’t wait. We had a wine tasting at Vertigo Wines as well as a BARK ‘N BERRY ice cream social, and we have some upcoming events such a Button Brewhouse meet up on Saturday, Sept. 26; the Greyt Global Greyhound Walk on Sunday, Sept. 27 and, of course, the BooRooUnion on Sunday, Oct. 25; with more coming up in November and December.
Not only do these events give us the opportunity to show off our hounds, they also bring awareness of the breed to the community. They also get people interested in fostering and/or adoption. Finally, they give a greyhound “fix” to many who no longer have their grey.
I am hoping this year’s BooRooUnion outdoes last year’s, which was very well attended. Over 50 dogs were there and I think I got to pet most of them! My goal this year is to pet them all and say hello to all their people. The committee has been working hard on this year’s event and will be showing off some new events as well as bringing back the tried and true ones, like “longest tail” and “baldest butt,” to name a few. They have also had some new awards designed, which they can’t wait to hand out.
The Jim Click truck will be there and if you haven’t bought your tickets yet, don’t worry, we will have them there and available as well.
Being involved in SA Greys has been a highlight of my time in Tucson since 2019 and this event is one of my favorites. I can’t wait to see you all there and am looking forward to our annual Roo at the close of the day.
