President’s Message – June 2026

One of the things I love telling people about our organization is how we are 100% foster-based and how much that helps the dogs. Going immediately into a foster home allows the dogs to relax and settle in while we learn about their personalities, including areas that may need just a little bit of attention. Anne Lopez, our Foster Coordinator, does a great job matching dogs with fosters to help ease their transition to life as a pet.

Our foster volunteers do a lot of the heavy lifting as they navigate house training, leash walking, sleeping through the night and now that we are receiving U.S. greyhounds again, hookworms to name a few of the many invaluable services fosters provide to us and to the dogs that are experiencing what it is like to be a pet for the first time. Foster parents are also extremely flexible since at times we may have to move dogs because of scheduling, rebounding or the foster-to adopt isn’t working. What you foster volunteers provide is too valuable to put into words and I am eternally grateful for ALL you do!
