Operations News – April 2024

Greyhound Fun Fact: Greyhounds are the second fastest animal on earth, behind only the cheetah. Their top speed is 45 mph. Greyhounds have a 270-degree range of vision. They can see objects behind them and more than a half mile in front of them. A greyhound chasing its prey at top speed can travel one mile in one minute and 20 seconds. Can you run that fast?

Despite our best efforts, hounds can get loose, slip through doors and get into trouble. Accidents happen.

SA Greys is proud to announce that we are piloting a program whereby we will fit all new hounds in foster care with a GPS tracking device. The device is app-based and compatible with iPhone and Android, and it can also be used on a computer.

Once tested, we hope to equip all new hounds with this device. In the interim, we suggest you download our “Lost Greyhound Emergency Booklet.”
