DEAREST GENTLE READER,

It has come to this author’s attention that a certain young lady has recently entered society.

Her name?

Miss Eloise Bridgerton.

She is five years old, petite of face, extravagant of tail, and entirely incapable of entering a room without attracting attention.

Those acquainted with Miss Bridgerton describe her as sweet, affectionate, confident, lively, and exceedingly personable. This author would add that she possesses a rather suspicious amount of charm for one so utterly uninterested in behaving like a proper, quiet lady.

Indeed, Miss Eloise is rarely still.

She prances.

She wiggles.

She investigates.

She appears to believe every new day has been arranged entirely for her amusement.

And perhaps most scandalously of all, she has opinions.

When introduced to medium-sized dogs, Miss Bridgerton displayed impeccable manners. Polite greeting? Yes. Respectful behavior? Naturally. Lingering unnecessarily once the introductions were complete?

Absolutely not.

After exchanging the required pleasantries, she simply moved along, presumably having decided there were far more interesting matters requiring her attention.

There was no chasing, no fuss, and certainly no scene.

Small dogs, however, appear to leave Miss Eloise somewhat unconvinced.

She prefers to observe these tiny creatures from a respectable distance and, whenever possible, pretend they do not exist at all. One can hardly blame her. Society is difficult enough without being expected to understand everyone one meets.

Again, there was no chasing. Miss Bridgerton simply chose discretion.

When allowed to explore freely, Eloise proved herself wonderfully independent. She is quite content to wander about, investigate her surroundings, and pursue her own interests without requiring another dog to supervise her every move.

A lady with a mind of her own?

How positively scandalous.

This author therefore feels obligated to warn prospective adopters:

Miss Eloise Bridgerton is affectionate.

She is charming.

She is quirky.

She is confident.

She possesses an irresistible prancing step and a tail that seems to have opinions of its own.

And should she decide that your home is worthy of her presence, there is every possibility that you will find yourself completely under her spell.

Consider yourselves warned, Gentle Readers.

The most interesting lady of the season has arrived.
